Morocco’s appeal to travelers is Artisan normally available for a decent price. And, for those gifted with the art of bartering a even better price can be achieved. One of the most sought after items in Morocco are carpets. For those armed with the knowledge of what makes a quality carpet and a basic price range to begin the wheeling and dealing, buying a carpet in Morocco can be a rewarding experience (and make your living room look astounding).

Local Moroccan women who make the carpets often are not the ones who end up selling them. In some small villages, where women’s cooperatives exist, the women are involved in pricing and selling process. They might even have set prices, which are what many travelers prefer, especially if they aren’t into bargaining while sipping tea for two or more hours in a crowded medina alleyway.

Therefore, if possible, attempt to visit a local artisanal shop or women’s cooperative to have an idea of what prices are fair for different types of carpets. One type of carpet is the heavy woolen type that is available throughout the country. In Rabat, which is one epicenter for these types of carpets, travelers can search the medina – which happens to be one of the most laid-back souk areas in the entire country. These types of carpets are different than others you’ll find elsewhere in Morocco because of their design that holds true to basic Islamic Art patterns. Usually, these carpets have one central motif that works its way to a highly detailed border. Before looking at a carpets central theme, look over its border. If it is detailed, solid, and thick, then the carpet will cost more money than another without the same outer-edge workmanship.

Knowing the different prices for carpets is quite difficult. The rule goes: If a buyer is happy with the price, then it is a fair price to pay. While this thought process is a little different for western travelers who would rather have something fixed, you’ll begin to understand the mentality better after a few days’ experience in various marketplaces. An old antique carpet that is more than 50 years old, for example, will be worth quite a bit of money, especially if it has been taken care of and withstood the tests of time. Other, more modern carpets may appear bright and illustrious, but their colors will fade over time – something that actually adds to the original look and feel of the piece. Knowing the difference between what chemical and natural (or vegetable) dyes will help.

Overall, a carpet can be judged by how many knots it has per square meter (or yard). Excellent carpets that fetch the highest prices might have nearly 350,000 knots in it per square meter (or about 300,000 per square yard). This type of workmanship is hard to find, but can be had if one looks hard enough. If a carpet vendor claims that their carpets have more knots than this, then you know that it is a far-fetched tale. Additionally, outside of the Rabat region, carpets vary in length, design, and craftsmanship. With hundreds (if not thousands) of types available, it will be dependent upon your taste and ability to spot a well-made piece that determines what sort of carpet you’ll bring home. These patterns will include geometrical patterning and not have outlandish repetitions of the same design. These carpets are often called hanbels or kilims. Other carpets, which are thicker and well made, are called zaneefi designs, while a shoedwi is a type of carpet that is usually made up of mostly black and white designs.

How To Make The Most of Your Animal Print Skinnies?

You love Zebra and Leopard printed Skinny Jeans, right? Yes, well, so do we. They look great, and they make a great impact. I mean, you can't just not notice this kind of jeans! They look gorgeous, and that's true.

But how to wear them to make the most of this amazing design?

The best way is to wear them with plain top, and plain shoes. Ideally black or grey. You could get away with red or purple as well, but only with White Zebra jeans, it would look actually very Scene Queen! Don't experiment too much with Red Leopard Jeans, we beg! Wear them with plain black or white tee or hoodie, and plain shoes. If you go somewhere special (like a gig, or a show) you can wear them with black corset, and red accessories, it would look uber-cool, just don't over-do it, as you may be seen as goth.

Remember, do compliment these jeans, try to show them off. Avoid printed vans or other shoes, whey will just spoil the effect, go for simple things, like black flats, or vans, or some black boots.
Now accessories: the best way to compliment these skinny jeans is to wear matching accessories, like animal scarf, or bandana on your head, or some animal print bangles. Try to match the hair accessories with these jeans, they will go very well.

Tips for buying jewellery for a woman

The saying 'diamonds are a girl's best friend' is almost certainly true, but what if you can't afford diamonds and you still want to buy jewelry for that girl?

There are lots of things to think about. You might see a piece of jewelry and think "I'm sure she would like that", but just ask yourself a few questions first...

For example, does she only wear gold or silver?

Even though fashion jewelry and costume jewelry has become very popular (and cheap!) in the last 5 years or so, many women still only wear real gold or silver jewelry (known as fine jewelry).

Sometimes it is because they might suffer an allergic reaction to other metals, sometimes they think their of jewelry ss a status symbol, some women just prefer it!

Bear in mind too that what you think is silver might be white gold or platinum - do check first!

So think twice if you've only ever seen someone wearing gold or silver jewelry - they might like the look of other jewelry, but they probably won't wear it.

Spotted a beautiful bracelet?

You need to think "Does she actually wear bracelets?"

Lots of women love the look of bracelets and like something jangling on their wrists, but many women just don't wear them.

It could be because the bracelet catches on things or it is always clunking on her desk when she is at work when she is writing or typing... or it could be because it irritates her by rattling a lot...perhaps the bracelet needs to be constantly moved back up her wrist a bit!

Got your eye on a ring?

Again you need to look at what she wears. Fingers are funny things! Some women just don't wear rings as an accessory. They will wear a wedding or an engagement ring and maybe something like a ring from their late mother or grandmother, but that will be for sentimental reasons - they are not making a fashion statement.

If she does wear rings as an accessory, double check whether or not she only wears real gems!

And be very careful - will the message giving a ring will send be what you really want to say?!

Thinking about a pair of earrings?

Are her ears pierced or not? Such a basic question yet often missed!

Does she wear stud or drop earrings?

Many women will wear both, but lots of women will wear one style only.

There could be lots of reasons for this such as the length of their hair (a woman might think her hair would just hide stud earrings, so what would be the point of wearing them?).

Other women just don't think they suit dangly (drop) earrings!

Does she need or prefer a little bit extra length when it comes to the length of a necklace or a pendant chain or a bracelet?

So many women have received beautiful jewelry as a gift only to be disappointed to find it doesn't fit them as it is too short (of course, they won't say anything to the giver except that they love it!).

A lot of jewelry is designed for Petite size women with smaller necks and wrists. A 16 inch chain which is standard with a lot of pendants will be too small for lots of women, as will any bracelet under 7 inches long.

And don't be fooled by necklaces or pendants with an 'extension' chain. If a woman needs to fasten a necklace using the extension chain, more than likely the necklace will never sit properly because most extensions are badly designed.

Most women prefer an 18 inch or a 20 inch chain when it comes to pendants, so again check what she already wears.

If her pendants sits quite close to her throat, go for an 18 inch chain, if the pendant hangs a bit lower think about a 20 inch chain.

If the woman is Plus size (a larger lady) then don't make the mistake of thinking they all want to wear 'big' jewelry! Choose a piece of jewelry that comes in different sizes and just buy a longer length chain or bracelet!

Another idea if you are not sure what size to buy when it comes to the length of a pendant is to buy one with a slider fitting (also sometimes called a lariat or bolo fitting).

This design is ideal because you just pop the pendant over the your head, hold on to the loose ends of the 'lariat' (the chain) and slide the pendant into place.

A slider pendant can be worn high or low on the neck so gives several different looks which makes it a useful piece of jewelry to own.

The slider design is also ideal for women who struggle with fiddly clasps - a great gift idea for someone with less able fingers, maybe your Mum or Grandma!

The internet has made the world of jewelry a much smaller place, so don't just rely on the jeweler's in the High Street. Try looking online and see the wide range available - I'm sure you find something desirable for her to wear!

CANADA. Peller Estates Winery, the Canadian icewine specialist, introduced its new sparkling wine to the trade at the TFWA World Exhibition. Andrew Peller Signature Series Ice Cuvée Classic is described as a traditional méthode sparkling wine made with hand-picked Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes. A dosage of Vidal Icewine (110ml) is added in the wine-making process, which is said to be one of the product's unique selling points. The 11.5% abv cuvée comes in a 750ml bottle with elegant white and gold-trimmed outer box packaging. The yellow straw-coloured wine has a bouquet of apricot, yeast and ripe apple, with hints of honey, followed by tropical fruits on the palate and a refreshing sweet grapefruit finish. You’ve just been invited to a Theme Party? Ok, that’s not the end of the world, believe us, you will look fantastic and all you need is a bit of research.

If, for example you’re going to 70s Theme Party, you need to Google ‘70s Fashion’ to find out, how they dressed. 70s is easy to achieve, you pretend you’re colour blind and don’t accept black. But seriously? We’ve just had a task to dress one of our clients to 70s party, and we all had a good laugh!

We decided to go for Comic all Over Print T-shirt, as it’s a classic Old School number, on that we’ve put golden waistcoat, and green flare trousers on the bottom. This period horror adventure that stars Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, Arnold Vosloo and John Hannah is a mixture of archaeological action with a mixture of comedy and curses thrown in. If you like all things Egyptian as I do you will love this. A very entertaining movie rated 12.

2. Today BBC3 8.50pm Chicken Run
A fabulous family film with the voices of Mel Gibson as Rocky the Rooster, Julie Sawalha as Ginger and also Jane Horrocks as Babs. From the makers of Wallace & Gromit this movie is very funny that has many POW undertones including The Great Escape rate U.

3. Today E4 9.00pm I,Robot
A futuristic sci-fi move with Will Smith at the helm set in 2035 when robots are part of everyday family life. He plays a detective who has had a bad experience of the robots which seems substantiated when a friend appears to have been killed by one. A very thrilling action movie that is worth watching rated12.

4. Sunday ITV2 9.00pm The Sixth Sense
A supernatural drama starring Bruce Willis and a young Haley Joel Osment which is an intelligent ghost story that you to need to watch from start to finish. With its knockout twist ending this film is rated 15.

5. Monday ITV1 10.40pm Unleashed
A fantastic martial arts action thriller starring Jet Li, Bob Hoskins and Morgan Freeman. This movie set in Glasgow has some great Jet Li action parts but a great film for non martial arts fans. It is rate 18 as does contain violence.

6. Monday TCM 9.00pm The Dirty Dozen
If you are able to get this channel via satellite it is a fantastic classic movie to watch and stars a host of old Hollywood greats including Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson, Clint Walker, Ernest Borgnine. Rated 15 however the violence is very mild compared to today’s movies.

7. Monday Ch 5 11.05pm An Innocent Man
A brilliant crime thriller in my opinion although not a massive hit for Tom Selleck when released in which a ordinary chap gets set up by two dirty cops and goes to prison. It changes the character for the worst. Well worth watching rated 18.

8. Tuesday BBC3 8.00pm Armageddon
A big epic all action sci-fi movie starring Bruce Willis, Liv Tyler, Ben Affleck and Owen Wilson. If you are able to put up with the ra ra America overtones it is a great movie to watch with humour, tears and great performances, rated 15.

9. Thursday ITV2 9.00pm Be Cool
A crime comedy starring John Travolta as Chilli Palmer, the Rock, Danny Devito and Harvey Keitel which is the sequel to Get Shorty, which coincidentally is on Wednesday ITV2 9.00pm. Rated 12

10. Thursday Sci-Fi Ch 10.00pm The Lost World: Jurassic Park
A fantastic family sci-fi dinosaur adventure which is the sequel to Jurassic Park starring Jeff Goldblum and the great Richard Attenborough. Even if you have seen it, it is well worth watching a second time. Rated PG.

How To Survive a Gig?

If you’ve been to a gig before, you know it can be wild place and quite impossible to control. So how to prepare for a concert, what to wear to survive? Keyword is: ‘comfortable’. Put comfortable shoes, not your best pair, but one that could be trodden by the crowd, you’ll be surprised by the state of your shoes after the concert! Well you’ll still need them for your way back, so leave your pumps at home and put some old sneakers instead. Fashion can wait one more day :)
Now, the jeans, ideally black or grey, as you might sit on the ground, be spilled with a beer and other disasters, and you don’t want to show the world story of the night, do ya? Ok, so that’s sorted, but what about the top? Well, that’s a tricky number. Have at least two tops with you, one underneath, sleeveless for dancing when it’s really hot and crowdie, and a Hoodie to wear on your way back. But don’t take your favourite Hoodie with you, you’ll need some old number, one which can be left on the ground, or under the bench, ideally dark coloured, or with some strong pattern.
Ok, so the wardrobe’s sorted. What about other things to have? You might need some secure place to put money in, so ideally in your pockets, have some room for tissues, bus pass, mobile, lipstick or eye-liner, you never know if you’ll need some make-up corrections! And there’s no point of taking backpack with you, it can be easily robbed in these kind of places, even if you leave it in cloakroom.
After all, you go there to have fun with your mates, and not to worry about the state of your clothes, or your bag!

Well with Euro 2008 well and truly finished, Spain finished up worthy champions. After playing with flair and style right through the group games up until the final against Germany, football truly won the prize this summer. This was an excellent football tournament to watch for all football fans.

The English Premier League season is a little over a month away with the first fixtures taking place on the 16th August. The big question on everyone's lips is will Ronaldo still be with Manchester United by then or will he be fulfilling his dream to play for Real Madrid? Alex Ferguson has kept a very dignified silence, maintaining his stance that no player is bigger then the club. The news must be somewhat disappointing for Man Utd fans, who would have been relishing at what other records Ronaldo could beat in the upcoming season. It seems that this story is set to drag on for a few more weeks yet, anyhow. Man United line up against Newcastle United at Old Trafford on Sunday 17th August, looking to get their first win of the season to start where they mean to carry on indefending their title.

Another match taking place on the 17th August is Chelsea kicking off their campaign against Portsmouth at Stamford Bridge. Speculation is rife about Lampard linking back up with Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan, but again like the Ronaldo story, it doesn't look set to be decided in the near future. Chelsea start their campaign with new manager Big Phil Scolari fresh from managing Portugal in Austria and Switzerland this summer. He promises to be another unique character in the Premiership and non Chelsea fans are looking forward to his involvement as much if not more than the Chelsea fans! Portsmouth start their season with their new signing fresh from Liverpool, Peter Crouch up front looking to play a lot more football this season after being used as a squad player by Rafa Benetiz last season. This is the third time that Harry Redknapp has signed the big centre forward, after being involved in his previous transfers to Liverpool and Southampton.

With Peter Crouch now gone to Portsmouth, Liverpool fans will be waiting to see who Rafa brings in as a replacement to play up front alongside Torres, although rumour has it that Ryan Babel will be played in a more forward position this season. Liverpool kick off against Sunderland away on Saturday 16th August hoping for a win. Liverpool's transfer dealings seem long from finished with Benetiz still to clinch Gareth Barry from Aston Villa. One thing's for sure, the fans on the famous Kop will be cheering and waving their flags and scarves for whoever Benetiz signs throughout the season as they do for the rest of the players.

Aston Villa start their season playing at home at Villa Park against Man City. It seems a dead cert that Gareth Barry will be moving to pastures new. Martin O'Neill has been confirmed as signing Steve Sidwell from Chelsea for £5 million today to strengthen the squad. Man City start the season after experiencing a summer of disruption with the predicted departure of once England manager Sven Goran Eriksson. Several players have left and new manager Mark Hughes seems to have a huge task on his hands this season to try to get them into a European place this season. Only time will tell.

Arsenal play their first home game of the season at The Emirates on Saturday 16th August against West Brom. Arsene Wenger has seen several of his first team players leave for other clubs, with Adebayor also looking to be leaving the club after Arsenal dropped the price they were asking for him. The Arsenal squad has not been stregthened this year and Arsenal fans will be a little worried to see what happens and what deals Arsene will do to bring new players in. Has their wage structure been a defining factor in players leaving the club and the failure to attract new ones? Only time will tell. West Brom will be looking to try not to lose in their first game back in the Premiership after their promotion last season. They are expected to be fighting for their lives come the end of the season trying to avoid relegation. Whatever happens the players can always count on their fans at The Hawthorns to give their all.

Bolton Wanderers start their season at home against Premiership newcomers Stoke City. The Stoke City fans will still have strong memories of that famous last game of the season which guaranteed them promotion to the Premiership in their heads. They will need twice the fight that they had last season to stay up this time around. Good luck to them, they'll need it! Bolton have recently released news that goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen and full-back Ricardo Gardner have signed new deals with the club.

Blackburn Rovers play away in their first game of the season against Everton at Goodison Park. Liverpool old boy has recently joined Blackburn for pre season training at another attempt to stay in the top flight for another season after his excellent season at Cardiff City last year. Everton striker will be looking to make his mark and try to improve upon his form from last season. Whether he will still be with the club come the end of the season is not known however with Wigan and Sunderland both trying to tempt Everton into selling him.

Premiership new boys Hull City start up at home against Fulham for their first game. Its sure to be a full house at the KC Stadium. Fulham will be hoping to avoid the same relegation battle that they went through last season which went down to the wire. They will be hoping to get off to the ideal start with a win against the new boys.

Tottenham Hotspur have had a relatively quiet summer, but they have been right up their over the past few days in the sports columns. Reports suggest that Man United have put a £10 million bid in for Berbatov, and with rumours also speculating about the alleged imminent departure of Robbie Keane to Liverpool, Spurs fans must be wondering who they will have up front to get them the goals in the coming season. They kick off away at Middlesborough on Saturday 26th August. Middlesborough have rumours of their own to contend with, with Rafa Benetez rumoured to be in the hunt for Stuart Downing. Boro will be keen to keep hold of their England International with the hope that he will be one of the main providers for their goals this season.

Finally last up are The Hammers at home on the 16th August against Wigan. West Ham will be looking to avoid relegation this season and hope to get into Europe. Star striker Freddie Freddie Ljungberg has quit international football to focus on playing for his club, which will only help the Hammers cause this season. Wigan will be in a similar situation to West Ham this season and will be hoping to avoid getting dragged into the relegation battle come the end of the season.

So with only 34 days to go until the first game of the season kicks off, English Premier League football fans all over the country from all the teams (and the world) will be starting to dream of their team winning the Premier League/FA Cup/Champions League. Rubbish Weather

I think the title says it all! What time of year if this? Feels like October, with so much wind and rain not a lovely sunny July. Still I suppose we had one half decent week while Wimbledon was on. When I was a kid you could always rely on Wimbledon fortnight for good weather. You could pretty much guarantee it. I must be showing my age.

With the school summer break coming up this is that last thing parents need is for the kids to not be able to go outside on their bikes, playing football or in their swimming pools. This was the case last year and by the 5th week the boredom sets in anyway and having them cooped up as well is disaster.

So I am prepared this year, I have some games ready like Monopoly, cards, Uno is a good one and we also have one called Baker Street a bit like Cluedo but better. I have plenty of jobs they can help with around the house. We have a Wii in the house as well and that can be good family fun. I will also get them doing some cooking like biscuits, small cakes and some easy pasta recipes. Luckily both my boys don't mind. If there are good days we will take advantage by going for a nice walk or a bike ride.

Hi Summer (said with tonque in cheek) is nearly here and with the summer comes those long days of trying to entertain the children.

The kids are at home for their long summer break, and like mine, they are probably bored. Starting a craft is a great way to keep them occupied and achieving something for them to look back on and say, "I did that"

Crafting and scrapbooking may introduce your children, and yourself, to a lifelong hobby. This simple start may lead to many other projects along the way. There are some great stickers, Peel Offs and embellishments on the market these day to enhance and perosnalise cards and scrapbooks.

Scrapbooking & cardmaking is always a good place to start as your children can stamp his or her own individuality to it. Scrapbooking is great way to keep memories and can be added to at any time so it doesn't have to stop when they go back to school.

Kids will find it great fun to add their own twist with colored pencils , markers, chalks, rubber stamps and crafting scissors.

They can make individiual scrapbooks or personalised gifts for relatives & freinds. Grandparents always like something hand made from their grandchildren

This can be done before and after the holidays. By taking lots of pictures, they will be able to assemble them in their book.

These woven treasures are a representation of centuries of exquisite artistry and meticulous craftsmanship. Moroccan carpets are famous for the quality of wool,cotton and silk used in there weaving.
And for their striking colors produced by natural dyes. In Moroccan design, the use of color is critical, and this infusion
begins with intensely hued dye.
Dying wool is an art form and today’s weavers continue to use ancient methods expertly. They still make an orange
from henna, an indigo blue, a madder red, and a natural green; the yellow comes from a locally available plant, whereas
the black wool is undyed as it comes from black-haired goats indigenous to the region.
The weaver then begins a painstaking job that will take months, if not years, to complete a single carpet. Using their
design in their minds as a complete reference, the weaver uses a loom to build the rug from thousands, oftentimes
millions, of individually tied knots. The work, time, detail, and tradition that goes into making carpets provides each one
with a personality all its own.
The value of a carpet is based not only on the intricacy of the design but also on its age, the number of knots, and the
strength of the wool. Rural rugs are identified by region, then by tribe. Their most vivid characteristic is their vibrant colors
combined with stylized motifs inspired by ancient symbols or strong imaginations. Berber carpets are the most famous.
They usually are handmade with naturally dyed wool in colors ranging from bright and cheerful to faded. Fez carpets,
though the most expensive, are of excellent quality. They have intricate patterns and are very densely knotted.
Hand-woven pile carpets from the Taznaght tribe of the High Atlas Mountains in the south of Morocco are characterized
by rich, warm colors. The rugs of this region are known for the high quality of their wool, recognizable from its high sheen
and its softness. These rugs show very high quality weaving and design techniques.
The Zemmour tribes, known for their beautifully detailed weavings, are settled in the area South of Meknes, and they are
one of the largest producers of textiles among the Middle Atlas Berbers. As these tribes live in a warmer climate, their
textiles are more like blankets than rugs

The terms carpet and rug are sometimes used interchangeably. Rug generally means a textile floor covering that is not greater than 2 square meters. A carpet therefore being anything bigger.

Film memorabilia is a vast and varied product and there are many different areas for collectors and fans to choose from. I only supply a small portion of the items that are available. It occurred to me that maybe some people are unaware what a film cell actually is, so I will endeavour to describe them in more detail.

A film cell consists of postcard sized posters or scenes from the movie, either a strip of 4 or individual frames 35mm film usually from a trailer that has been shown in a cinema somewhere in the UK or USA. Each film cell is therefore unique as no 2 frames are identical. The mountboard that these are mounted on are made from acid free card so will not damage the 35mm film and pictures over time.

Each display is finished off with a gilt or silver plaque with the movie title and Limited Edition Film Cell engraved on. All come with a certificate of authenticity.The 35mm strips or individual cells are hand picked so you get the best, no back of the head or obscure distance shots. The number of 35mm film strips in a presentation does depend on the type of display. There are several to choose from. See below the displays that are available with a brief description of each:

Large Montage - 5 mini posters or scenes, 6 strips of 4 frames from different parts of the movie. Size is approx 18x16 inches.

Triple Film Cell - 3 mini posters or scene, 6 individual frames from different parts of the movie. Size is approx 20x8 inches.

Mini Montage - 1 mini posters and 10 individual frames from different parts of the movie. Size is approx 10x8 inches.

Double Film Cell - 2 mini posters and 2 strips of 4 frames. Size is approx 14x8 inches.

Double Montage - 2 mini posters and 4 frames from different parts of the movie. Size approx 14x8 inches.

Photo Film Cell - A 10x8 approx photo from a scene in the movie and 2 frames. Size approx 12x10 inches.

DVD Film Cell - 1 mini poster, the DVD label and 2 frames from different parts of the movie. Size approx 14x8 inches.

Standard Film Cell - 1 mini poster and a strip of 4 frames. Size is approx 10x8 inches.

Each display is framed in a black ash effect frame with perspex back and front. This serves 2 purposes, no risk of breakages in transit and with perspex at the back you can see the full beauty of the film cells. They are a piece of movie history. With the growing use of CGI, 35mm film will become a thing of the past.

The sun is shining and brides all over the country are getting excitable about their special day !!The fashion this year has been unpredictable to say the least !! Throw away those bridal tips magazines and opt for colour and styles that suit you rather than those models!Well that seems to be the way it's going!
No more 'i want one like that' and more of a tailormade bespoke service, brides are looking for something unique to them to really make them feel special .Gone is the traditional shower bouquet and in comes the 'shape' season ............... already this year we have had a heart shaped bouquet which can be seen here , the photo doesnt do it justice i must admit, but its hard to take decent pictures at 4 o'clock in the morning ................. This special design was styled out of beargrass, carnations and lily of the valley, the latter not coping well with refridgeration meant a late nigt and early morning for all involved to keep it looking at its best for the big day ahead!
Burgandy seems to be a BIG colour this year and there is only one flower which fulfils this colour wise which is the black bacarra rose, when open the inner petals are a rich deep burgandy in colour and very luxurious to look at and to touch .....It is one of my personal favourites and lends itself well to both modern contemporary bouquets and for those going for a more Gothic style bouquet, team it with red roses and burgandy calla lillies for a truly Gothic Bride.
