Hi Summer (said with tonque in cheek) is nearly here and with the summer comes those long days of trying to entertain the children.

The kids are at home for their long summer break, and like mine, they are probably bored. Starting a craft is a great way to keep them occupied and achieving something for them to look back on and say, "I did that"

Crafting and scrapbooking may introduce your children, and yourself, to a lifelong hobby. This simple start may lead to many other projects along the way. There are some great stickers, Peel Offs and embellishments on the market these day to enhance and perosnalise cards and scrapbooks.

Scrapbooking & cardmaking is always a good place to start as your children can stamp his or her own individuality to it. Scrapbooking is great way to keep memories and can be added to at any time so it doesn't have to stop when they go back to school.

Kids will find it great fun to add their own twist with colored pencils , markers, chalks, rubber stamps and crafting scissors.

They can make individiual scrapbooks or personalised gifts for relatives & freinds. Grandparents always like something hand made from their grandchildren

This can be done before and after the holidays. By taking lots of pictures, they will be able to assemble them in their book.

Other great ideas for childrens crafts are jewellery making, plaster casting, craft kits, so don't let the kids get bored introduce them to the kids zone.

Moroccan Carpets

These woven treasures are a representation of centuries of exquisite artistry and meticulous craftsmanship. Moroccan carpets are famous for the quality of wool,cotton and silk used in there weaving.
And for their striking colors produced by natural dyes. In Moroccan design, the use of color is critical, and this infusion
begins with intensely hued dye.
Dying wool is an art form and today’s weavers continue to use ancient methods expertly. They still make an orange
from henna, an indigo blue, a madder red, and a natural green; the yellow comes from a locally available plant, whereas
the black wool is undyed as it comes from black-haired goats indigenous to the region.
The weaver then begins a painstaking job that will take months, if not years, to complete a single carpet. Using their
design in their minds as a complete reference, the weaver uses a loom to build the rug from thousands, oftentimes
millions, of individually tied knots. The work, time, detail, and tradition that goes into making carpets provides each one
with a personality all its own.
The value of a carpet is based not only on the intricacy of the design but also on its age, the number of knots, and the
strength of the wool. Rural rugs are identified by region, then by tribe. Their most vivid characteristic is their vibrant colors
combined with stylized motifs inspired by ancient symbols or strong imaginations. Berber carpets are the most famous.
They usually are handmade with naturally dyed wool in colors ranging from bright and cheerful to faded. Fez carpets,
though the most expensive, are of excellent quality. They have intricate patterns and are very densely knotted.
Hand-woven pile carpets from the Taznaght tribe of the High Atlas Mountains in the south of Morocco are characterized
by rich, warm colors. The rugs of this region are known for the high quality of their wool, recognizable from its high sheen
and its softness. These rugs show very high quality weaving and design techniques.
The Zemmour tribes, known for their beautifully detailed weavings, are settled in the area South of Meknes, and they are
one of the largest producers of textiles among the Middle Atlas Berbers. As these tribes live in a warmer climate, their
textiles are more like blankets than rugs


The terms carpet and rug are sometimes used interchangeably. Rug generally means a textile floor covering that is not greater than 2 square meters. A carpet therefore being anything bigger.

Film Cells & Film Memorabilia by Filmstruck

WHAT IS A FILM CELL?

Film memorabilia is a vast and varied product and there are many different areas for collectors and fans to choose from. I only supply a small portion of the items that are available. It occurred to me that maybe some people are unaware what a film cell actually is, so I will endeavour to describe them in more detail.

A film cell consists of postcard sized posters or scenes from the movie, either a strip of 4 or individual frames 35mm film usually from a trailer that has been shown in a cinema somewhere in the UK or USA. Each film cell is therefore unique as no 2 frames are identical. The mountboard that these are mounted on are made from acid free card so will not damage the 35mm film and pictures over time.

Each display is finished off with a gilt or silver plaque with the movie title and Limited Edition Film Cell engraved on. All come with a certificate of authenticity.The 35mm strips or individual cells are hand picked so you get the best, no back of the head or obscure distance shots. The number of 35mm film strips in a presentation does depend on the type of display. There are several to choose from. See below the displays that are available with a brief description of each:

Large Montage - 5 mini posters or scenes, 6 strips of 4 frames from different parts of the movie. Size is approx 18x16 inches.

Triple Film Cell - 3 mini posters or scene, 6 individual frames from different parts of the movie. Size is approx 20x8 inches.

Mini Montage - 1 mini posters and 10 individual frames from different parts of the movie. Size is approx 10x8 inches.

Double Film Cell - 2 mini posters and 2 strips of 4 frames. Size is approx 14x8 inches.

Double Montage - 2 mini posters and 4 frames from different parts of the movie. Size approx 14x8 inches.

Photo Film Cell - A 10x8 approx photo from a scene in the movie and 2 frames. Size approx 12x10 inches.

Standard Film Cell - 1 mini poster and a strip of 4 frames. Size is approx 10x8 inches.

Each display is framed in a black ash effect frame with perspex back and front. This serves 2 purposes, no risk of breakages in transit and with perspex at the back you can see the full beauty of the film cells. They are a piece of movie history. With the growing use of CGI, 35mm film will become a thing of the past.

The sun is shining and brides all over the country are getting excitable about their special day !!The fashion this year has been unpredictable to say the least !! Throw away those bridal tips magazines and opt for colour and styles that suit you rather than those models!Well that seems to be the way it's going!
No more 'i want one like that' and more of a tailormade bespoke service, brides are looking for something unique to them to really make them feel special .Gone is the traditional shower bouquet and in comes the 'shape' season ............... already this year we have had a heart shaped bouquet which can be seen here , the photo doesnt do it justice i must admit, but its hard to take decent pictures at 4 o'clock in the morning ................. This special design was styled out of beargrass, carnations and lily of the valley, the latter not coping well with refridgeration meant a late nigt and early morning for all involved to keep it looking at its best for the big day ahead!
Burgandy seems to be a BIG colour this year and there is only one flower which fulfils this colour wise which is the black bacarra rose, when open the inner petals are a rich deep burgandy in colour and very luxurious to look at and to touch .....It is one of my personal favourites and lends itself well to both modern contemporary bouquets and for those going for a more Gothic style bouquet, team it with red roses and burgandy calla lillies for a truly Gothic Bride.
